Sane Sonco, originally from Guinea-Bissau, lived in Brazil for 15 years, where he completed his undergraduate and graduate studies, including a master’s degree in Political Science and International Relations. After graduating, he moved to Portugal in the hope of settling there, but encountered significant migration-related difficulties, delays in obtaining documentation, limited employment opportunities, and a severe housing crisis. The high cost of living, combined with low wages, made it difficult to make ends meet, leading him to conclude that immigrants in Portugal face precarious conditions and very limited real opportunities.
