He continues to work on his linguistic studies, even obtaining an invitation to speak at an academic conference, and to publish a peer reviewed article. Meanwhile, to survive he works in a call center and has a private tattoo studio. He also continues to hope to return to the US as a childhood migrant adoptee. He emphasizes the importance of dedicating oneself to an activity, especially immediately following a deportation.
