90. Walking towards a new life
“I’m originally from Ocotlán, Jalisco. I’m a trans woman … Here I am in Tijuana … I came here to ask for asylum, because they want to kill me. I can’t stay in the city I am from, because if they see me, they’ll kill me, even though I haven’t done anything. Simply because the drug dealers charge a fee. Even just for working, they charge. They killed my partner, they kidnapped me along with her, and they killed her … I want to ask everyone in the US to support us. Here in Mexico we trans women are discriminated against. [There are] a lot of homicides. People look at us with prejudice.”
