SUMMARY

Jackson recounts his challenging journey through the jungle of Darien. The journey lasted from September to December 2021. Traveling alone, Jackson had to leave his family behind in Haiti to seek a better life. Along his journey, he faced different dangers. He wasn’t alone; there were others on the same path who were in need and offered help, but at times his efforts were frivolous, and they were left to the way of nature. He comments that the worst experience was crossing a river during heavy rain, where pregnant women and children were often swept away in the fast waters. Jackson received assistance from police officers but heard of theft incidents. He lost his backpack with essential documents in the river. With only an ID, Jackson managed to reach Tapachula.
