Vanessa Estrada Santizo recounts a terrifying experience during her return journey to Mexico from Honduras. While crossing the river, she and other migrants were kidnapped by armed men. They were taken to a safe house and demanded 1200 pesos per person for their release. Vanessa was able to pay because she had the money for her plane ticket with her. During the kidnapping, she witnessed violence and fear among the migrants, including the murder of a pastor and his family. Finally, after paying, they were moved to another safe house before being released.
