A UC Davis student tells what it was like growing up after her father was deported when she was only three. She and her two siblings grew up with the family living together in Mexicali, but having to cross the border every day for school, which was exhausting. While the initial trauma of seeing her father get detained wore off, she was reminded again and again of the issue when other relatives would take his place at so many school events. She feels it is important for people to understand the damage done to children when their parents are deported.
