A Nicaraguan man who had been traumatized after being kidnapped into the military by the Sandinista government in 1986 had nonetheless hoped that Daniel Ortega would offer the country solutions upon his election in 2007. However, political repression has become intolerable, and many Nicaraguans are being forced to seek safety by emigrating.
