Jonathan René tells his story beginning with both nostalgic and traumatic memories growing up in his home country of El Salvador. Due to the escalating gang violence in El Salvador, at the age of thirteen, Jonathan migrates to the U.S. to live with his father where he works in kitchens and construction. After his first love migrates from El Salvador to the U.S. and he has a baby girl, Jonathan’s life changes after he has problems with the authorities and faces deportation. Deported back to El Salvador, Jonathan tries to establish himself, but after death threats, the gang violence forces him to migrate once again north. InTijuana, Jonathan is trying to maintain a job while facing discrimination for being deported.
